| The physicians associated with The Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center and many community physicians are committed to promoting and participating in cancer clinical trials - research studies conducted with the informed consent of the patient, sponsored by various organizations, which are designed to answer specific scientific questions. Clinical trials are conducted in a series of steps called phases. Phase I is a human testing that follows animal testing. Phase II trials usually test the effectiveness and safety of the drug against specific tumor types. Phase III trials compare the newly designed treatment with standard treatment(s). Phase II and III research trials can provide cutting-edge therapies through our community physicians at little or no cost to participants. |
| Current cancer research studies underway focus on cancers of the bladder, breast, colorectal, lung, pancreas, and prostate. See below for a list of active trials at HLRCC. For more information, call the cancer center at 203-575-5555. |
